Dermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure designed to correct minor imperfections of the skin on your face.
You may decide to undergo a dermabrasion treatment for different reasons:
- Rejuvenate the face.
- Make your facial skin firmer.
- Reduce the appearance of acne scars.
- Reduce wrinkles and other skin imperfections.
- Reduce and improve skin irregularities.
During a dermabrasion treatment, sanding is performed with a dermabrader. Thin layers of skin are removed to stimulate collagen formation.
Following a dermabration treatment, the face remains red during the healing process; this lasts several weeks.
The desired results can normally be achieved in a single treatment. In some cases it is necessary to have multiple treatments.
Dermabrasion is not an alternative for people who need a face lift or for those who want to remove excess skin due to skin laxity of the face.
Alternative Treatments
One option would be not to undergo a dermabrasion treatment.
Other treatments such as chemical peels or lasers can improve skin imperfections and wrinkles.
There are also fillers injections of hyaluronic acid or Dysport or Botox to improve wrinkles or facial folds.
